Tonkatsu GONTA in Dusseldorf

Very good quality of the food and always friendly staff. The delivery service (via third-party providers) also works and tastes great. We look forward to the restaurant being able to offer food on site again in spring.

Impressive Tonkatsu here in Germany. Feels like a quick travel to Japan.

The best tonkatsu i've ever had in Germany!!

We went here several time this year, including before Corona. The food is amazing! During summer we went there on a Friday evening, since we were 5 people we had to make a reservation. It was very comfortable, tables were separated with plexiglass and all the other "corona-rules" were applied. I added a picture from the Take-Away Menu (Nov'2020) I can't wait wait till the normal Menu is back, I miss the "fried meatball" (sorry I can't remember the original name of the dish. It was so delicious!

Here you can get real Japanese Tonkatsu (Japanese schnitzel). For dinner maybe a bit expensive, so I recommend for lunch.

These waitresses were super rude. I hope they could be nicer to other customers. We had 4 people on the table and we ordered only 3 dishes I understand there were 4 people and we only ordered 3 dishes might be not happy for them but it was only I and my bf were not hungry. In the end, they got the order wrong and they served 4 dishes and we refused to take the other one. They started to be super rude to us. No eye contact for whole time after it happened. Additionally when we asked for the payment they don't try to reach us no offense we felt "oh we could just leave and they don't care". Finally when the waitress came, she didn't try to ask to pay seperately or together. Just standing there and whatever we try to figure it out to pay seperately was none of their business. She decided to just leave cuz it took so long time becuz we were figuring out pay how much we have to pay for each. So we decided to pay just together and we finally could pay and left here. I don't know if they are not happy about not everyone on the table order one menu. Just mention in advance.

Not exactly cheap, but one of the best tonkatsus (Japanese schnitzel) I've ever tasted! I find it very sad how it goes down because of Takumi. For around 15-20 € per schnitzel or as a schnitzel menu, this is not exactly cheap, but the quality is just right here!

Best place to eat Katsu. Very delicious and make me want to visit this place again. The salad is very fresh and the miso soup is very tasty. Recommended when you visit Düsseldorf.

Update, I had the katsu curry which was amazing!! It’s worth coming to Dusseldorf just for this??? Hip Tonkatsu restaurant, very similar to those seen in japan. Good quality food with matching price, although the service can be slow when busy. Make sure you have enough time especially at lunch time as it can take up to 30 mins for your food to arrive!

Crispy pork gatsu and a cheese gatsu

Living in Germany for 3 years and been missing Tonkatsu for as long as I can remember. Can't believe that I can find it here! The pork was juicy inside, crunchy outside! And they served the rice with furikake, which you can sprinkle as much as you want. Definitely 5 star for me!

Best Tonkatsu in the town. Friendly staff, taste like what I ate in Japan. Recommend go for Lunch Menü, you won’t be disappointed anyway

I went there on Saturday at 12:00 noon, but lined up for 50 minutes without a reservation. However, it was worth lining up. It was insanely delicious. The rice is plump and the cabbage is thin and fluffy. The miso soup was a little lukewarm, but the taste was OK. Reservations are required if you are going during the weekend rush hour!

I love the atmosphere and the decoration, it's modern and so simple. The restaurant gives me a calm vibe. We order their signature tonkatsu and chicken karaage and we love them. The food is definitely on point and big portion. I haven't had such a good Tonkatsu for a long time, super authentic. I would definitely visit again

The thick-cut pork chop rice is really delicious, although it is deep-fried, it is not greasy and crispy. It is also fun to grind sesame seeds yourself! It’s best to make an appointment in advance if you go, otherwise you may queue up at the door

The schnitzels are very juicy, crispy and, together with sesame sauce and tartar sauce, really a good place to go. You already miss the Teriyaki bowl with egg, but after specializing in such delicious schnitzel, it is really manageable.

Looking for good authentic Japanese food that isn't sushi or ramen we landed here for the first time last year and were definitely satisfied. Very tasty katsu! ? We were always satisfied with further visits. My favorites are the nori fries.

The food is really incredibly delicious, the service very friendly and tried very hard to make you feel comfortable. A clear recommendation for Katsu lovers and those who want to become one.

Me and my friends (5 person) were very looking forward to dine here on this Friday evening, we made the reservation via restaurant's website (tonkatsu-gonta.de) on Wednesday while checking out the menu, on Friday afternoon we still haven't received the reservation confirmation then called the restaurant for inquiry then we were told that Friday evening were fully booked. If you don't take online reservations then don't put the function on your website, don't mislead your customers. We are very disappointed. The one star is not fair as we haven't had the food yet, but it represents our frustration of had to change of plans in the last minute.

Super lecke. The deco in the restaurant is modern and fresh which we both like it. The teishoku is super delicious, with all kinds of topping and soup. The potato salad is so good. For me, this pork neck tonkatsu is too fat but still juicy and crispy. The side dish Takoyaki is also perfect. I would like to try more dishes in the future ❤️❤️❤️

The best schnitzel ever! And these sesame schnitzel sauces, delicious! The ambience is a bit casual, the food outstanding! The staff is friendly and quick. Would come back anytime.

This restaurant is highly recommended. The service is friendly, quick and very lovable. The prices are absolutely reasonable. The dishes are excellent and fun to try something new. We are here regularly and that won't change that quickly.

Authentic Tonkatsu offering take away meal during Covid-19

The store is just in Japan! The atmosphere in the store is good, the background music is good, the sense of distance and interaction with the Japanese staff is good, and it feels like a Japanese tonkatsu chain. Tonkatsu set meal also comes with pickles and mortars in familiar containers, so you can enjoy the same quality as in Japan. Tonkatsu is of course delicious, and white rice is delicious anyway. The shop is full of representatives. While many restaurants are open to Westerners, this restaurant is just like bringing Japan. If you live in Europe and want to feel Japan not only in taste but also in atmosphere, service and everything!

Nice place, great food and friendly staff. We took the fried pork filet and the fried pork ribeye with miso sauce in a set option, which mean with rice and miso soup. Everything was cooked perfectly and there was attention till the last detail. We really enjoyed it and will come again in this authentic Japanese restaurant! Thanks and see u soon!

Amazing soul food The quality of the food is totally worth the price. Juicy cutlets, nice presentation, it was like a little trip to Japan for a moment. Very good service.

Tonkatsu is very well-made but I took away one star because the sauce is too sweet. It tastes almost like diner ketchup.

Wide variety of tonkatsu, fish, meat, vegetarian. Friendly staff and excellent atmosphere. I think it is a little too pricey for the portion size though.

Fast and friendly service, the food is delicious. I ordered a set of tonkatsu chicken with rice and miso soup. The servant made the tomate sauce directly at the table (grinded the sesame seeds and added tomato apple sauce).

A Japanese restaurant that you can recommend to everyone! In addition to the queues, it is a little under but the visit is worth it! The food is very good, the condition is very friendly. For the price, one can only say: "Quality has its price". The ambience is harmonious and beautiful from the entrance to the toilet.

The tonkatsu is stellar and is just like you would eat it in Japan. The drinks are also great. Try the Ginger Highball.

Absolutely great food and special drinks you can find nowhere else, and top service. No idea why people just go to the noodle place next door.

Really good Tonkatsu with plenty of options between meat, seafood, and veggies. Rice and miso soup were also good and the workers were very friendly. Clean place with bathrooms and lots of seating. I came saturday around 2pm and did not need reservations. I will come again
